Painting Production Engineer

Painting Production Engineer

Our client is an international manufacturer of high-performance motorsport products, with an established manufacturing operation in Bahrain.
The company is seeking a technically strong Painting Production Engineer to take responsibility for the technical performance, quality and continuous improvement of its painting operations.
This is a hands-on manufacturing engineering role requiring strong practical knowledge of industrial painting and coating processes, where finish quality, colour consistency, and attention to detail are critical.  For an exceptional candidate with deeper technical and leadership experience, there may be scope for appointment at Painting Department Manager level.

The Role
Working within the Painting Department, you will provide technical oversight of painting operations, ensuring consistent quality, productivity and process control.  Key responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing industrial painting and coating processes to achieve required quality, efficiency and production standards.
  • Monitoring production performance and supporting day-to-day planning, workflow and resource allocation.
  • Establishing, maintaining and improving SOPs, process parameters and operating standards.
  • Troubleshooting painting and coating defects and identifying the root causes of quality and process problems.
  • Leading corrective and preventive actions to reduce defects, rework and production losses.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, cost and process stability.
  • Monitoring painting equipment performance and recommending improvements, upgrades or new technologies where appropriate.
  • Supporting the introduction of new painting processes, equipment and technologies.
  • Working closely with Production, Quality, Engineering and other technical functions to resolve issues and improve performance.
  • Supporting and developing the Painting Department team, including supervisors, painters, colour specialists and quality personnel.
  • Ensuring painting operations comply with relevant safety, environmental and quality requirements.
  • For candidates considered at Department Manager level, taking broader responsibility for departmental performance, people leadership, technical development and continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile
We are particularly interested in candidates who combine strong technical painting expertise with practical manufacturing experience.  You are likely to have:

  • A degree or diploma in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering or another relevant technical discipline.
  • At least 4 years’ relevant experience in industrial painting, coatings or a closely related manufacturing environment.  More experienced candidates are also encouraged to apply.
  • Strong practical understanding of industrial paint application, surface preparation, coating processes and production controls.
  • Experience identifying and resolving painting defects and implementing effective root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Good understanding of process optimisation, quality improvement and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience working within a structured manufacturing environment where product quality and consistency are critical.
  • The ability to supervise, coach or technically guide production personnel.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good English communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multicultural manufacturing environment.

Experience in helmet or motorcycle manufacturing, motorsport, automotive, automotive components, composites, sporting goods, premium consumer products, or other technically demanding painted products would be particularly relevant.  Candidates from other industrial sectors will also be considered where they can demonstrate strong expertise in high-quality paint application and finishing.
Experience in paint formulation, colour development, coatings R&D or working with paint/coatings suppliers would be advantageous, particularly for candidates seeking consideration at Department Manager level.

The Opportunity
This is an unusual opportunity to apply industrial painting and coatings expertise within the international motorsport industry, working with high-performance products where aesthetics, finish quality, consistency and technical performance are extremely important.
The position is based in Bahrain and offers significant technical responsibility within a specialist manufacturing environment, working as part of an international and multicultural organisation.
The company is open to considering candidates at different levels of seniority.  The final appointment may therefore be made as either Painting Production Engineer or, for a suitably experienced candidate with stronger technical and leadership credentials, Painting Department Manager.
