An opportunity for a Factory Manager – Luxury Handbags to establish and lead a new manufacturing operation in Bangladesh, from factory setup through to full commercial production.

The Opportunity

An established international manufacturing group is developing a new factory in Bangladesh to produce luxury handbags for a global luxury brand.

The company is seeking an experienced Factory Manager with strong technical expertise in luxury handbag manufacturing and a proven ability to establish and scale production operations.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for factory establishment, equipment and process setup, team recruitment, customer approvals, and the transition to stable commercial production.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the establishment of the new factory, developing and executing the operational setup and production launch plan.
• Define factory layout, production flow, equipment requirements, staffing structures and operating systems.
• Establish manufacturing processes and quality controls for luxury leather and synthetic handbags to meet demanding customer workmanship standards.
• Oversee technical processes including leather selection, cutting, skiving, stitching, assembly, edge finishing and hardware attachment.
• Recruit, train and develop production, technical and supervisory teams, establishing clear performance standards.
• Coordinate product development, technical trials, customer approvals and production readiness ahead of bulk manufacturing.
• Manage production planning, capacity ramp-up, efficiency, quality, material utilisation, costs and delivery performance.
• Implement industrial engineering, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices to improve productivity and reduce waste.
• Manage operating budgets, production reporting, compliance and safe working practices.
• Work closely with senior management, customer representatives and internal support functions to deliver a successful factory launch.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

The successful candidate will bring substantial hands-on experience in luxury handbag manufacturing, combined with the operational and organisational capability to establish a new production facility.

Essential requirements:

• Strong technical knowledge of luxury leather and synthetic handbag manufacturing, including construction methods, materials, finishing and quality standards.
• Proven factory management experience with direct accountability for production, quality, cost, delivery and workforce performance.
• Demonstrated experience establishing new manufacturing operations, launching production lines or managing significant factory expansions.
• Practical understanding of production equipment, factory layouts, manufacturing processes and production line balancing.
• Experience recruiting, training and developing manufacturing teams, including technical specialists and supervisors.
• Strong production planning, budgeting, industrial engineering and operational performance management skills.
• Experience working directly with demanding international customers and their technical and quality requirements.
• The ability to lead multicultural teams and resolve technical and operational problems directly on the factory floor.
