Head of Fabric

The Head of Fabric will lead fabric development and manage sourcing to ensure that all materials selected meet technical and colour standards.

This very successful foreign-owned apparel manufacturer supplies apparel to high-profile international brands and retailer groups – your input will ensure continuing quality, innovation and on-time delivery.

The key accountabilities are:

  • Work with the design team to source materials
  • Work within the critical path timelines that are affected by material selection and colour approval decisions
  • Liaise with designers and suppliers to set material specifications and standards
  • Undertake material test procedures to ensure that specifications and standards are being met and provide feedback and technical support to suppliers and manufacturers
  • Ensure that all product conforms to current legislation and standards
  • Work with the design team, customer, manufacturer and raw material suppliers to establish the colour master or standard
  • Manage the colour matching procedure throughout the supply chain
  • Be aware of new materials on the market and work with suppliers on the development of exclusive materials

To be successful you will have a technical focus on fabric, with:

  • Working knowledge of colour evaluation
  • Working knowledge of the methods required for setting and testing material specifications
  • Good working relationships with customers and suppliers
  • Experience in an apparel manufacturing environment, with an understanding of the importance of the critical path
